Orthodox, Protestant or Catholic

In an Orthodox funeral the deceased is traditionally laid out in an open coffin; the memorial service follows the Orthodox liturgy and is celebrated by a priest of the respective community (Russian, Greek, Serbian or Romanian Orthodox). A Protestant funeral is usually a simple, dignified service in the church or cemetery chapel followed by burial at the graveside. A Catholic funeral traditionally includes a requiem in the church and a burial at the graveside.
