When a person dies, there is often no room left for grief — too many formalities push their way in. We take them on. Completely.

You don't need to know what to do next. A single call is enough, and we take care of everything else: authorities, transfer, crematorium or cemetery, the funeral service and all certificates. You have one dedicated contact — around the clock, in German, Russian, English or Italian.

What we take care of for you

In the event of a death there are countless steps to handle — most of them with deadlines, forms and authorities. We take this entire list off your hands so you can focus on what matters: saying goodbye.

  • Authorities & formalitiesDeath certificate, registration with the registry office, deregistrations and all correspondence with authorities — we handle it for you.
  • TransferCollection of the deceased at any time of day or night — from hospital, care home or from home: within Berlin, throughout Germany and worldwide.
  • Crematorium & cemeteryWe coordinate cremation, the grave site and appointments with crematoria and cemeteries throughout Berlin and the surrounding area.
  • Funeral serviceFrom the funeral hall, celebrant, music and floral arrangements to the condolence book — we organise the ceremony according to your wishes.
  • Certificates & documentsWe obtain all required death certificates in the right quantity — for the pension fund, insurers, banks and the estate.
  • Notifying institutionsWe support you in notifying insurers, the health fund, the pension office and other bodies, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Everything from one hand — why this matters for you

In grief, strength is the scarcest resource. Anyone who in these days additionally has to shuttle between the registry office, crematorium, cemetery administration, florist and insurers gets lost in organisation instead of being able to say goodbye. That is exactly what we take off your hands.

At Himmelsruhe you have a single dedicated contact who holds all the threads together. You don't have to tell your story ten times, coordinate appointments yourself or chase any service provider. We know your case, coordinate everyone involved in the background and only get in touch when a decision is genuinely needed from you.

This means not only less effort, but also certainty: no deadline is forgotten, no certificate is missing at the decisive moment, and no one passes responsibility back and forth between offices. You keep the overview without having to create it yourself.

What this means in practice

  • One call instead of ten

You report the death to us once — we notify the doctor, registry office, crematorium and cemetery, without you having to make any further calls.

  • Appointments that fit together

We coordinate cremation, funeral service and burial so that no gaps and no duplicate journeys arise.

  • One binding cost estimate

Instead of many separate invoices, you receive from us a transparent cost estimate with third-party fees clearly itemised.

  • A person who knows you

Your contact accompanies you from the first call until after the burial — you never have to explain yourself again.

Support in your language — without an interpreter

Grief needs words that land. With us you are advised and accompanied directly in your language — not via a relayed interpreter, but in person. We provide Russian, English and Italian just as naturally as German. That way you understand every step, every formality and every decision precisely, and in an already difficult time you can be sure that nothing fails because of a language barrier.

The first 72 hours — what counts now

Immediately after a death, only a few things truly need to happen at once. Everything else can wait — and much of it we take on. This overview shows you what matters in the first hours.

  • Have the death certifiedCall a doctor (family doctor, emergency doctor or on-call medical service). They certify the death and issue the death certificate — the basis for all further steps.
  • Get in touch with usCall us — around the clock. We discuss the essentials, collect the deceased and take over the entire organisation from that moment on.
  • Have important documents readyAn ID card, birth or marriage certificate and — if available — a funeral provision plan or last will help us arrange everything in line with your wishes. If something is missing, we find a way together.
  • Decide at your own paceWe discuss the type of funeral, the service and personal wishes without time pressure — often only the following day. For the first hours you don't have to make any major decisions.

You are not alone in your grief

Our task does not end with the organisation. If you need support beyond the practical side, we connect you with experienced grief counsellors, chaplains and self-help groups in Berlin — sensitively and, on request, in your language. Talk to us; we will name suitable contacts who will stand by you in the weeks after the farewell.

Frequently asked questions from families

What should I do first as a family member?

First have a doctor certify the death — that is the only step that is truly needed immediately. After that a call to us is enough: we collect the deceased and take care of everything else. All other formalities can wait.

Do you really handle all the dealings with authorities?

Yes. We obtain the death certificate from the registry office, handle registrations and deregistrations and conduct all correspondence with the authorities. You don't have to go to any office for the formalities yourself.

What does a funeral cost and when will I know the price?

Before any commission you receive from us a written, binding cost estimate with clearly separated own costs and third-party costs (e.g. cemetery and crematorium fees). That way you know exactly what to expect from the outset — with no hidden items.

What if there is no funeral provision plan?

That is the normal case and no problem at all. Together with you we discuss the wishes of the deceased, as far as they are known, and your own ideas — and from this we create a dignified farewell that suits you.

Do I get a dedicated contact person?

Yes. From the first call until after the burial the same person, who knows your case, accompanies you. You never have to explain your situation again and always have someone available for you.

Will I also be advised in my native language?

Yes. We advise and accompany you directly in German, Russian, English or Italian — in person and without a relayed interpreter. That way you understand every step precisely.

Are you also available at night and on weekends?

Yes, our hotline is staffed around the clock — including weekends and public holidays. A death does not follow opening hours, and we are there when you need us.
